Tempeh stir fried with fermented soya bean paste / miso 🌿 Have you ever tried this super food? I never knew it was so good until I had no choice but to try it ! Tempeh is a nutrition dense food that a lot of people are not willing to try because of its moldy appearance. It is an excellent plant based protein that acts like a sponge absorbing the flavours introduced to cook it. Browning it first with some oil releases it's mushroomy flavour and crisp the the outer layer making it chewier and more acceptable to those who are not used to it's squishy texture. This is another delicious and great way to introduce tempeh to those who have never tried eating tempeh. It is simple to cook and packed with flavours and umami from the fermented soy bean paste or miso, ginger, cilantro, chilli, spring onion etc. This delicious , easy to cook dish only require a few simple ingredients 1 pack of tempeh, cubed into about 1 cup. If you buy fresh tempeh it should be warm to touch and covered with fine white hair. Thumb sized ginger, sliced Spring onion, green part cut into half a thumb length and the white part minced. 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro / chinese parsley Toasted sesame seeds Red chilli finely chopped ( optional) Green chilli rings 1 tbs soy sauce 1 tbs miso paste 1 tsp sugar In a pan add a tbs oil and put cubed tempeh to brown on all sides ( fresh tempeh has a woody mushroomy aroma when cooked) Remove tempeh when it is browned Add ginger garlic, chopped spring onion ,green chilli to caramalize. Add Tempeh, miso, soy sauce and sugar. Mix throughly and remove heat.
