After being away for 7 months, dealing with failed restarts, getting myself straightened out, working out my Youtube plans, and rediscovering my love for Queen’s live performances, I am getting back onto my horse and getting back to re-uploading Queen’s live concerts with a vengeance! My goal is to re=upload all of Queen’s available concerts in audio format and give them their proper respect by constant listens, re-writing the descriptions, and working on projects that showcase this band and their live concerts in ways that will help bring them to potential new fans and for future generations. With the help of some subscriber friends behind the scenes and working with some extremely talented members of the Queen live community, I will go out in a blaze of glory while giving these live concerts some much-needed TLC! This first upload after my 7-month hiatus comes from Queen’s first Rainbow Theatre concert from 1974. This three-track upload comes from a stereo Trident reel-to-reel source that was intended to be broadcasted on the radio back in the 1990s and the quality is fantastic. These three performances have a much more “raw” sound to them compared to how they would appear on future official releases and while the vocal harmonies were likely enhanced, the musicianship and vocals sound natural and this is a great alternative listen when compared to the official versions. These three Rainbow Theatre tracks have the band sounding fantastic with a strong desire to play to be the greatest band in the world as they don’t let up for a single second during the performances. The raw and heavy sound combined with youthful energy, creativity, and that hunger to be the best in the world gives performances like these an edge. It’s a joy to hear a such a talented band in an early stage of their careers where they play to conquer different parts of the world and nothing would slow them down while accomplishing this goal. Freddie sounds pretty strong vocally with him combining his “heavier” and darker vocal approach with confidence and pushing his voice to great effect. Now… time to go through these three performances… “Son And Daughter” is performed with great passion and Brian May’s guitar work is incredible with many twists and turns being implemented during his solo section. With the high-quality audio, it is extremely easy to appreciate Brian’s work and performances like this highlight why he is such an amazing guitar player. “Stone Cold Crazy” contains some exquisite drumming from Roger Taylor with Freddie delivering a great vocal rendition of the Sheer Heart Attack number. Lastly, “Liar” showcases why this era of Queen is highly acclaimed for the musical prowess as the work done on stage is performed with complete conviction with technical prowess mixed in with a highly creative outlook. Freddie also gives a good vocal performance with him using his darker approach effectively. ENJOY!!!
