Bengaluru : The counting of votes cast in 222 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka on May 12 began at 8 am on Tuesday. The BJP has crossed the 112-seat mark for simple majority and is ahead of the ruling Congress as officials counted the millions of votes polled in the Karnataka Assembly election, leaving the JD-S far behind, officials said. As per the current trend, BJP leads in 107 seats whereas ruling Congress leads in 73 seats. JDS is leading in 39 seats. BJP chief minister candidate B. S. Yeddyurappa has won in Shikaripura. Chief minister C. Siddaramaiah has been defeated in Chamundeshwari by GT Deve Gowda of JDS. JDS leader Kumaraswamy is leading in Ramanagara.
