Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping. ð Would like to welcome you each out to my backyard on this beautiful sunny day where we're going to get busy planting some cabbage seeds. Absolutely love to grow and eat cabbage. Looking forward to a large harvest this year of heirloom cabbage to make sauerkraut, canned coleslaw mix and do some other mixtures of fermentation with the harvested cabbage. It is simple and easy to plant and grow cabbage. The first step is starting your seeds. Now both of these cabbages are heirlooms and they are well known for their ability to be planted direct seed into your garden. This time I'm doing them transplants to get a jump start on them. When our final frost comes through then they will go in the ground. Copenhagen Market cabbage seeds are a Danish heirloom introduced by H. Hartman & Co. in 1909. This early variety forms round, solid heads 15-20cm (6-8") in diameter, making it the largest early round-head cabbage for summer harvest. Charleston Wakefield Cabbage (70-85 days) The result of a selection from Early Jersey Wakefield made on Long Island. Sold to the F. W. Bolgiano Seed Co. in 1880. Charleston Wakefield produces a larger head than other Wakefield Cabbages, with each head weighing about 4 to 6 pounds. Looking forward to these beautiful cabbages germinating and growing strong for me. Will bring you all along on this journey as they grow. Hope this video encourages you to grow your own cabbages as well. It is simple and easy to do as long as you have the garden space or container space for them. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day.
