🚨Case Study🚨 You’ve been dispatched to an apartment complex for a female with weakness. Upon arrival you find a 43-year-old female laying on the couch, complaining of dizziness, weakness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and weight loss. She has a history of Hashimoto disease and rheumatoid arthritis along with various other problems and takes several meds, none of which she can remember. She was in her usual state of health prior to about a week ago when she suffered a flu-like illness. She looks generally terrible and has weak pulses but your physical exam is otherwise unremarkable. Your partner obtains the following vitals: 👉 HR: 120 👉 BP: 84/52 👉 RR: 20 👉 SpO2: 96% (room air) 👉 FSBG: 62 mg/dL (3.4 mmol/L) En route you start an IV and give 1 L NS to no effect. You initiate your vasopressor of choice… its not helping as well as you thought it would. ❓What do you think is going on here? ❓Why aren’t your treatments working? ❓What are your next steps and what med does this patient need? #paramedicstudent #emtstudent #emtschool #emt #emtlife #paramedic #paramedicschool #paramedicos #paramediclife #paramedicscience #paramedical
