Karmelo Anthony sentenced to 35 years in prison by a Texas jury
A Frisco teenager who admitted to fatally stabbing a student during a confrontation at a high school track meet last year has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison. A Collin County jury deliberated for about three hours Tuesday before reaching its unanimous verdict. The same jury will now decide Karmelo Anthony’s sentence. Texas law says a murder conviction is punishable by five to 99 years in state prison, but jurors are also considering whether the murder was committed under "sudden passion," which could allow for a reduced sentence between two and 20 years.
