The station building was heavily damaged, with windows blown out and walls destroyed by a number of blasts. The new terminal has been targeted more than once during the past two weeks but no trains are currently running. The last two days in Donetsk have seen a rise in violence despite the ceasefire, with nine deaths registered on Wednesday when a school and a minibus were hit. On Thursday, piles of thick black smoke were seen rising from the city's airport.
