A strong ecosystem where operators and vendors can get together to establish interoperability and ensure that multi-vendor RANs meet the operators’ requirements is the foundation for Open RAN to succeed. One of the top goals of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is to strengthen the ecosystem by establishing collaboration among stakeholders and creating the framework to validate, test and guide deployments of Open RAN. I talked to Renuka Bhalerao, Member of the Technical Committee at TIP and Lead of RAN Ecosystem at Meta, about TIP’s activities, results to date, and future expectations. The evolution to Open RAN is a complex process because the RAN is inherently complex. In this conversation, Renuka takes us through the steps TIP follows to help operators move from specifications to commercial deployments at scale. This is a preview of a longer conversation that is part of the Senza Fili Deep Dive report "The Open RAN ecosystem gathers steam. Openness transforms the RAN" available at www.senzafili.com
