In today's image, we see a flash of lightning in the clouds of Jupiter's atmosphere as imaged by the Juno spacecraft currently in orbit around Jupiter. Lighting has been seen on several other planets and is thought to occur on all planets with an atmosphere. Juno will be studying the night side of Jupiter over the next few months and should get more chance to observe and study lightning on the giant planet.
