$220,001 MOVIE MONEY...GUARANTEED! Here is an easy way to save or make $220,001 and place it towards your career or actually finance 2-3 feature films that you write, direct and/or star in. DON'T GO TO A 4-YEAR FILM SCHOOL! The worst 3 film schools in the world, without a question of a doubt, are probably NYU, USC & UCLA. WHY? Simple, they cost upwards of $220,000 over a 4-year period. I hope you just read that and let it sink in.... $220,000. Huh? I'm not stating that NYU, UCLA & USC are not very good film programs. Of course, they are. But, what I am saying is "Are they worth $220,000 and 4-years of your time". I believe not. Let me back the $220,000 number with actual monetary facts/costs. NYU (4-Year) FILM SCHOOL (2008) 1) TUITION: $18,258/semester 2) ROOM n BOARD: $5,890/semester 3) BOOKS n SUPPLIES: $500+/semester 4) PERSONAL EXPENSES: $2,500/semester SEMESTER COST: $27,148 GRADUATION (8 Semesters): $217,184 $217,184 was the cost in 2008. Now add the absurd tuition increases that universities tacked on in the past years plus the costs of flying/travelling back and forth to home and vacations and you can see how the cost for a 4-year traditional film education is easily $220,000-$250,000. I beg you. Please don't do it. We cannot give you (A) Talent and (B) Work ethic but it can give you the (1) Tools, (2) Resources, (3) Contacts, (4) Social Network and (5) Office to launch your career. You have a choice. Spend $220,000 at a 4-year, many times, theory laden film program; make a couple of shorts; have some speeches from Hollywood rah-rah celebs saying the "world needs new talent", graduate; get a Diploma and discover that no one is recruiting, which, if you either have a massive amount of time or money at your disposal, there is nothing wrong with this....
