Nancy Pelosi says Democrats will retain control of the House

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Democrats would retain control of the House of Representatives as results came in from Tuesday’s election. “I’m very, very proud of the fact that tonight – relatively early – we are able to say that we have held the House,” she said. Pelosi added that Democrats had focused their races on health care and protecting those with pre-existing conditions. "That was the most compelling argument of all," she said.
