You mentioned that you're very confused, because you've gotten positive and negative home pregnancy tests. You may have gotten negative tests if you are truly pregnant if the tests were taken too early. Generally speaking most home pregnancy tests are set to detect a hormone called HCG, and these levels rise exponentially each day till about eight to eleven weeks of pregnancy. If you take the test too early, there's not enough HCG present to get a positive result. This may have been what happened with those negatives. The concentration of HCG in your urine can also be affected by the time of day in which you take the test. For example, in the morning, when you urinate, your urine is the most concentrated. This is the best time to take the test because HCG levels are usually high enough to be detected by a pregnancy test, after you've missed your period. Most home pregnancy tests can't even detect a pregnancy till you're four to five, sometimes even six week along. My suggestion to you is wait another week and if you still haven't started bleeding, take another test. If, at that point, it's positive, congratulations! If it's negative or if you still have suspicions or concerns, call you doctor and they can decide if further investigation is warranted, after asking you more specific questions. Good luck with everything, and if you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our facebook page at facebook.com/intermountainmoms.
