The BBC has admitted it was told about separate allegations involving Scott Mills nearly a year ago but failed to properly follow them up. The Radio 2 presenter was sacked this week over claims about his personal conduct, and it later emerged he had previously been investigated by police over alleged sexual offences involving a boy under 16. The broadcaster now says a press query in 2025 containing limited information should have triggered more questions, but that did not happen. The BBC has apologised and said it will examine why the warning was not investigated, with reports suggesting the earlier claims were separate from those that led to Mills being dismissed.
