Major infiltration bid foiled at LoC, 5 soldiers martyred, 5 terrorists killed

Five army soldiers and five infiltrators were killed in the Keran sector in this years most fierce encounter at the LoC. The group of infiltrators attempting to sneak into India last week taking advantage of heavy snow and mountainous terrain were intercepted by the army which triggered a gun battle. The army units cordoned off the area and cornered the hiding infiltrators. Additional reinforcements were brought in. Special forces of army’s para unit were dropped by a chopper near the LoC. In a gun fight followed by intense hand to hand battle all the five infiltrators were killed. A large quantity of arms and ammunition and other materials including eatables were recovered. Army lost five of its best soldiers.
