(Aug. 30) 2007 16:25:06 00:02:26 [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] Iraqi officials are demanding Iran stop attacks like this one that are aimed at Kurdish rebels but often end up striking Iraqi territory. SOT Hoshyar Zebari, Iraqi Foreign Minister: Recently, we summoned the Iranian ambassador and handed him a note of protest and demanded an immediate cessation of these attacks Iran says it's targeting a group of separatist Kurds who officials say have been using bases in Iraq to launch attacks inside Iran. However, Iraq says those Iranian strikes are driving residents like these from their towns and farms. SOT Zebari it has led to extensive damage to the property, to the environment of the areas, and also it has led many people to leave their homes because of the continuation of this shelling." It's unclear how many people have been displaced by these attacks but it appears dozens have been forced to live in small tent communities. Iraqi officials say it's willing to talk to Iranian officials about the matter but warn future strikes could hamper their relations.
