Welcome to this 12-part YouTube series entitled “Hiding Behind the Mask: Conversations on Shame and Narcissism” with psychologist, Dr. Patricia Gianotti and the Rt. Rev. Rob Hirschfield, the Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire. This video series focuses on the connection between narcissism and the underlying feelings of shame that often drive narcissistic behaviors. We all have had experiences of hurtful, frustrating, or even frightening encounters with “narcissists”. However, many of us do not understand what creates narcissism or how to respond effectively. The first four videos in this 12-part series feature definitions and explanations of shame and narcissism. The remaining eight videos feature questions by audience members about how to respond to narcissistic encounters more effectively. Each video has a set of questions at the end of the section.
