ADOPTED! Herman (Kids-N-K9s February 2010)

Herman is a little camera shy so he looks less enthused than his normal self when the camera comes out. :) Take a look at those ears and tell me Herman isnt adorable?! Herman was part of the Kids-N-K9s program which pairs juvenile offenders in the Williamson County Academy "boot camp" with homeless shelter dogs at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter for a 4 week training program. The youth learn responsibility, patience, and perseverance while helping the dogs gain skills that will help them get adopted. Herman is a TOTAL snuggle bug. He seems pretty active in his kennel at the shelter, but that is very common for dogs that have been locked in a kennel for a long time. Once he gets out and runs around for a little while, he settles right down and is a fabulous couch warmer. He loves to rest his head on your lap, whether you are on the computer or watching TV on the couch but is also content to just relax in the same room as you. Though he spends about 80% of his time sleeping, Herman can also be playful and silly, especially in the yard. He LOVES toys and loves to play tug. He will toss his toys in the air and make you laugh! He would be very happy to have an active doggie companion to play chase and wrestle, but he could be fine as an only dog, too. Herman is definitely a top dog with other dogs and should go to a home with other dogs that will let him be the boss. He is totally submissive with people, though, and will happily let you be the boss. He listens very well and is very responsive. He would definitely like a fenced yard to be able to stretch his legs and would be happy to be a walking or running buddy, too. He walks quite nicely on leash most of the time. Herman spent several nights in a foster home and is really appears he was a housedog before as he had excellent house manners and quickly settled in and slept the evening away in a comfy corner of the couch. He will nap for hours in the funniest positions making the funniest faces! He seems to be housetrained and didnt have any accidents. He was more than willing to go in his crate and was quiet in the crate all night. He is a perfect guard dog, though, because his deep bark sounds scary to intruders but he will happily greet your guests at the door. Herman is an excellent housedog. He is very loving and affectionate, very responsive to training, and very laid back in the house. He was great with the teenagers in the program and we are told he is good with younger kids, too. He is very ready for a permanent couch of his own with a lap for snuggling! Check this cuddly boy out!
