Garima Lohiya secured the second-highest rank (AIR 2) in the UPSC results announced on May 23, 2022. Garima Lohiya hails from a middle-class family in the Buxar district of Bihar. Her father, Narayan Prasad Lohiya, is a businessman from Bihar. Garima Lohiya received her primary education from Woodstock School in Buxar, Bihar. She furthered her education at a school called Bhagwanpur in Varanasi. After that, she moved to Delhi and enrolled at Karodimal College. After completing her graduation, she decided to prepare for the UPSC. Garima explains that she studied at home for 8 to 10 hours daily. In her hometown, it was difficult to find UPSC-related books. In 2020, she failed her first attempt at the UPSC exam. Understanding the reasons for this failure, Garima once again began preparing for the UPSC exam. In her second attempt, in 2022, Garima, while staying at home, secured AIR 2 in the UPSC exam, bringing glory to Buxar nationwide.
