Pakistan Keeps Petrol Price Unchanged, Raises High-Speed Diesel by Rs6

Pakistan’s federal government on Saturday announced that petrol prices will remain unchanged for the next fortnight, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs6 per litre. According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the new HSD price has been set at Rs284.44 per litre, effective from November 16. The government said the decision followed recommendations from OGRA and relevant ministries. HSD, widely used in heavy transport, trains, and agricultural machinery, is considered one of the most inflation-sensitive fuels, often leading to higher prices of vegetables and essential goods. Petrol, used mainly in private vehicles and motorcycles, continues to affect middle- and lower-income households. Despite GST being zero on petroleum products, the government collects around Rs99 per litre on both petrol and diesel through petroleum levies, climate support levies, customs duties, and distribution margins. Levy collections reached Rs1.161 trillion in FY25 and are projected to rise 27% in the current fiscal year. #PakistanEconomy #PetrolPrice #DieselPrice #FuelPrices #OGRA #Inflation #PakistanNews #EnergyPrices #PetroleumLevy #CostOfLiving --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn News English is your window into the latest news, insight, and features from South Asia and beyond.
