Why would you train with light weight workouts over heavy weight? Ultimately it comes down to preference and training goals: If you want to get "stronger" over "bigger" You would train heavy sets with lots of rest with reps of 1-3 to muscle failure. If you want to build larger muscles (muscle hypertrophy) you train with volume. Volume = number of reps x the weight over a set period. Training anywhere from 5-30 reps getting close to muscle failure. This is a preference up to you, whatever feels better on your body or type of training you like.
