Rod Views A Quiet Place Day One

When the world seems to be ending, a pessimistic cancer patient fights for survival as she tries to get the last slice of Pizza. A Quiet Place Day One was a very interesting movie. Not only does it depict the arrival of these aliens, but it changes the setting we've seen on the previous two movies into a busy city; New York. I liked this change. Though, it would have been better if we can actually get more involvement of the city and the way it goes from loud to quiet. As for story; I feel the movie does ok with it, but it definitely could have been better. Apart from having a better opening, I feel the movie should have had more subtext and reasoning behind various aspects of not only character, but story. We should have gotten to understand the protagonist more in the beginning, seen more to her side of the story to really grasp her plight with her world. So that when information related to her backstory is revealed, we care about it more. Lastly, my biggest gripe with the movie was how quickly help arrived. Within the initial attack, the military was already present. Seconds later, helicopters are already telling the masses how these creatures work and how to survive. Minutes later, evacuations are set in motion because... new information involving how to combat these aliens are found out... but not by our heroes. Overall, I still enjoyed A Quiet Place Day One despite my critics on it, though I cannot fully say this movie does not have flaws. I would have loved to see more destruction. But, what I would have loved more is a better understanding to our protagonist and how this journey made her feel alive again. Frodo was cool though.
