The Truth About Hair Loss - • Hair Loss Industry Exposed! - How I regrew... Is it true that you can get dramatically better results just by adding 4 botox sessions to your finasteride treatment? I will tell you straight up: it certainly is. And today you will learn just how this is possible, as well as the science behind it. You will not want to miss this video. Hello, this is Tony for Hairguard. THE EASIEST WAY TO MAX OUT HAIR LOSS MEDS As we’ve often discussed in the past, the best way to approach hair loss is to use multiple treatments at the same time. And ideally you want the treatments to be as different to each other as possible. This way you get distinctive benefits from each treatment. And better regrowth overall. Now one of the most effective but overlooked treatments you can include in a hair loss regimen is purely mechanical. Relieving the tension in your scalp through mechanical means. We’ll get into the details of WHY this is so effective in a few minutes. But for now I want you to remember that relieving your scalp tension will max out your gains from any pharmaceutical treatment. Just by how much, is what we’ll be covering in today’s video. WHAT IS BOTOX So one of the easiest ways to relieve scalp tension is with botox. Briefly, the technique involves a series of botox injections at a few dozen sites around the scalp. The total dose administered is measured in so-called botox units. And these range from a low of 30 to a high of 150 units, which is also the most common dosage for hair loss. To give you a sense of how this compares to botox for facial wrinkles - which is far more common - you’d be looking at around 15 to 30 units to treat forehead wrinkles. HOW DOES IT WORK WITH FINASTERIDE? The new study we’ll be looking at today comes to us from the August 2020 issue of the journal Biomed Research International. The researchers recruited a total of 63 balding men. They were grades 2 to 4 on the Norwood scale. And they were randomly assigned to one of two groups. The men in the first group got botox injections in their scalp every 3 months over the span of a year. So 4 sessions in total. The men in the combination treatment underwent the 4 botox sessions in the exact same way. But in addition, they were also given daily finasteride, at the standard 1mg dosage. There were two main efficacy criteria: a) hair counts of a small balding area that was 2 centimeter squared in size and b) evaluations of the before and after photos of the entire head. These were made by two expert dermatologists. Let’s check out the results. In this table you can see how the hair counts evolved over time across the two groups. The BTA column on the left is botox alone, and the BTA+FNS column on the right is the combination group. Compared to their baseline, the botox group gained about 16 new hairs at the 3-month mark. This rose to 28 at 6 months, 34 at 9 months and 38 after one full year. But the combination group of botox + finasteride fared better: Compared to baseline, the men gained an average of 27 hairs after 3 months. Rising to 42 hairs at 6 months, 50 at 9 months and 56 at the one-year mark. These were pretty massive increases. An average of 50% more regrowth compared to the botox only group. BOTOX VS FINASTERIDE So we just saw how the combination treatment is easily superior to the botox monotherapy. But how does botox on its own stack up against finasteride on its own? While the researchers did not include a finasteride monotherapy group here, there are numerous prior studies we can turn to.
