The Israeli military has launched another round of air strikes on the Gaza Strip in response to the latest wave of rocket attacks. With more on that story, we turn to Paul Yi at the News Center. Paul, at least nine Palestinian militants have been killed and dozens of others injured over the past two days, including civilians. That's right. It marks the highest death toll in years in this conflict,... and that figure is expected to rise as Israel intensifies its military offensive against the militant group Hamas. Dozens of tanks and bulldozers were seen lining up near the Gaza border on Tuesday in what Israeli military officials are calling the first stage of "Operation Protective Edge." Tel Aviv has also called up several hundred reserve troops and said it was prepared to mobilize a ground incursion. The move comes as Israel bombarded about 50 targets inside the Gaza strip with aerial and naval assaults. We are currently taking the necessary precautions to both be prepared for an escalation. We have forces on the ground. We've utilized all of our defensive mechanisms - Iron dome and our Air Force, in order to protect and safeguard the civilians of the state of Israel." Hamas has threatened a "earthquake" in response to Israel's attacks, while claiming responsibility for some 40 rockets that were fired a day before. The surge in violence has raged since the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli youths last month and a Palestinian teen last week. In the latest update to that investigation, Israeli police say three of the six Jewish suspects arrested have confessed to murdering 17-year old Mohammed Abu Khudair.
