Chock Full o' Bach: Courante from Cello Suite No. 4 | Isabella Bignasca, viola

00:01 Introduction by Isabella Bignasca 01:06 Bach: Cello Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major, BWV 1010: III. Courante Heifetz Institute alumna Isabella Bignasca joins us all the way from Sydney Australia to resume our Chock Full o' Bach series. She performs the Courante from Cello Suite No. 4 in E-flat BWV 1010, which she describes as having a continuous rhythmic ebb and flow, giving this movement an especially exciting and dynamic feeling. Isabella also mentions the remarkable history of these beloved works - composed in the early 18th century and viewed primarily as technical exercises for most of their existence until legendary cellist Pablo Casals began performing them publicly during his career, and finally recording them in 1936. We know them today as among the most recognizable solo works ever composed, and a staple of the repertoire for many instruments. Follow us & tune in every Sunday at 9am (ET) for your weekly dose of Bach. 00:01 Introduction by Isabella Bignasca 01:06 Bach: Cello Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major, BWV 1010: III.
