UPDATE: Convicted Rapist, Murderer Now Categorized as Sexual Predator

DAYTON -- One more victory for two young murder victims and their families. Eugene Gall, the man convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering 12-year-old Lisa Jansen from Cincinnati, in 1978. A year later, was convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering 15-year-old Beth Ann Mote from Oakwood. "I remember that the little girl had disappeared they were looking for her in the woods in Miamisburg," said Elizabeth Githens. It's a case that shocked the Miami Valley and still does more than 30 years later. "It felt like it was part of my family that it had happened to," said Githens. But for the victims' families, this day in court was a good one. "By clear and convincing, that the defendant is in fact a sexual predator," said Judge Gregory Singer, Montgomery County Courts. As of today, three decades after his crimes, Eugene Gall will now have to register as a tier three sex offender for the rest of his life. "Any sanction that is able to be imposed upon this defendant we're going to make sure happens because of what he's done," sid Mat Heck, Montgomery County Prosecutor. Gall's murder conviction for Lisa Jansen was overturned in 2001, after his attorney proved he was legally insane. He's now finishing his life sentence in ohio for the murder of beth ann mote. Lisa Jansen's mother was in court, and left the courtroom full of emotion. "This meant a lot to her to see that number one he's still in prison, and number two that he was classified as a sexual predator," said Mary Montgomery, Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. Just this year, Gall's appeal to have the 16 years he served in Kentucky taken off his life sentence was denied. He is now not eligible for parole until 20-21. Earlier: DAYTON -- A judge today ruled that Eugene Gall, 67, will be categorized by the state as a sexual predator. Gall was convicted in 1972 of the rape, kidnapping and murder of Beth Ann Mote. He was sentenced to death in Kentucky, however, that sentence was overturned when Gall was found legally insane. He served 30 years in a Kentucky prison. Judge Gregory F. Singer says Gall will now be required to report to local authorities his residential address and where he works for the rest of his life. The sexual offender classification system did not exist when he was sentenced in 1972.
