The Government and (IOM) signed paper to help returnees arriving from Sudan crisis and (IDPs)

Sudan War Affects South Sudan Economic Output The conflict in Sudan has greatly affected South Sudan economic out particularly for the northern states that rely heavily on imports from Sudan leading to an increased food prices and fuel costs. The Government of South Sudan and International Organization for Migration (IOM) today signed document paper to address the most urgent basic needs of returnees arriving from Sudan crisis and internal displaced people (IDPs) affected by floods and conflict through cash based interventions (CBI). Muhammad Asar IOM Head of Operation said the influx of people fleeing the Sudan conflict are South Sudanese national. He added that the beneficiaries are going to benefit from cash-based intervention (CBI) to help them in providing basic necessities of life for them. Asar added that the resources are focused to provide immediate support to stranded returnees from border points to areas of origin. IOM Head of Operation pointed that the fleeing population has significantly increased with more than 57,000 individuals including 90 per cent of South Sudanese nationals crossing border points. Kuol Daniel Ayulo 1st Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance said that the government will raise the funds through the local revenue collection. Ayulo added that government of South Sudan will work hand in hand with the IOM to help the needy population. This project is going to benefit 40,000 highly vulnerable individuals including returnees arriving from Sudan conflict within a period of 6 months.
