The Wentian lab module of China’s space station will focus on life science experiments that could pave the way for human living in space and the future treatment of diseases in space, said Zhao Liping, chief designer of the module. China on Sunday launched the 17.9-meter-long Wentian, the first lab module of its space station. The new module will function both as a backup of the core module and as a powerful scientific experiment platform. During an interview ahead of the launch, the chief designer talked about some of the various experiments that the crew will perform aboard the lab module.
