Will Ear Plugs Work as Rubber Bullets?

Will Ear Plugs Work as Rubber Bullets?

Many of you are aware of the now infamous tweet from a "journalist" for the Huffington Post. He apparently mistook the classic orange ear plugs that every shooter is very familiar with for being rubber bullets. This is definitely reflective of the media's approach to firearms: assume everything involved is bad. But it got me thinking and I wanted to see if his confused assumptions could actually work, so I decided to put it to the test. In our first ever "Quick Clip" I test two custom shells using orange foam ear plugs as the projectiles. One containing 3 plugs to match the tweet and the other containing 1 plug in a more traditional load style. The results actually surprised me. NOTES: This is a quick clip so it's definitely not scientific or rigorous, we're just having fun. Also, I'm aware that the top 'hole' is probably just from the wadding and I successfully missed a 4 ft. square board with a shotgun from 10 feet away. If anything that is an act of skill and not a mistake. I am open to suggestions and comments though. Just know that every apparent mistake, I probably already yelled at myself for during editing. Also I know about this video:    • Can you use ear plugs as rubber bullets?| ...  . Go Watch It! He does a good job of actually using bullets instead of shells, and this is a much better approach for determining what's actually possible with these. Again, we're just having some fun here at SDL. AND AS ALWAYS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
