A Line Of Heavy Showers Drench San Jose, CA Overnight (1-9-2017)

In this video, it shows our area of San Jose, CA getting an overnight drenching with a line of heavy showers from a slowly departing potent storm system. This was just the leftover showers right behind the storm's main frontal system. Our area was already saturated from the recent heavy rains from an atmospheric river event, which is a train of storms aiming at California (aka 'Pineapple Express'). It's been stormy here as of late. We haven't seen such a stormy pattern like this in years. Flooding was a major concern due to the ongoing drenching, stormy weather... Weather scenario: After 5 years of historic drought, conditions in the Pacific had lined up in ways not seen since 2010. A deluge of rain from an atmospheric river moving in from the Pacific had began Saturday and had increased in severity by Sunday. Flash flood watches were in effect for the Bay Area, as well as high wind warnings. San Francisco and Oakland were to receive up to 4 inches and San Jose was to see as much as 3 inches by Monday, nearly 25 percent of each city’s annual average rainfall in two days! Southerly winds were also expected to be strong and gusty. What happened after 5 years of punishing drought to change the state’s rainfall so dramatically? First, the `Ridiculously Resilient Ridge` which blocked storms over the past 3 years was gone. Second, there were 2 other ridges, one off the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and one off Baja, Mexico, that were funneling storms into California. After Sunday’s storm, after a bit of a break on Monday, another system was slated for Tuesday, bringing more rain! Drive safely, fellas! (Footage filmed early Monday morning, January 9, 2017 around San Jose, CA) Weather forecast: A strong storm system was to move thru Sunday. In fact, weather forecasters had warned that this storm could be the most powerful in at least a decade. This system was to bring heavy rain and wind to the area. The storm was to be out by Monday. There was a brief break Monday and then another frontal system was to spread more rain over the area by Tuesday-Wednesday... Talk about an atmospheric river event in full effect!
