SOUNDBITE: (English) Sam Brownback, Senator, Kansas: "Four years ago today, Iranian protestors again took to the streets and they were brutally put down. Four years ago this day. The fact that we continue to see protests in Iran despite very harsh treatment is showing the world that these protests are growing and will eventually lead to real change in Iran." 10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Tabbi Zamani, Iranian-American: "I'm actually a supporter of the Mujahadeen. And, I'm here in solidarity with all the students in Iran that have been protesting for freedom in Iran, for the freedom of human rights, and for all the people." 14. SOUNDBITE: (English) Mahmood (first name only given) Iranian-American: "That's not the real Islam, what you see is being done in Iran. Women don't have any rights, people don't have any rights. The natural resources of the country are distributed among the few mullahs. People are not seeing a dime of it." 15. Mid shot of protest sign against British Shell POOL 16. SOUNDBITE: (English) Donald Rumsfeld, US Secretary of Defence: "There are reports, recent reports, of some Iranians moving some of their border posts along about a 25 kilometre stretch, several kilometres inside of Iraq. Obviously, not being respectful of Iraq's sovereignty. And, certainly, that is behaviour that is not acceptable and they should be staying on their own side of the border." 19. The demonstration took place on the fourth anniversary of student protests that were violently quashed by the mullahs in the Tehran government. As the demonstration gathered on Capitol Hill, live reports from new protests in Tehran were played via short wave radios. Also in Tehran, International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Mohamed ElBaradei called upon the Iranian government to let the agency take environmental samples at a location where it's alleged to have enriched uranium. The United States suspects Iran is trying to build a nuclear bomb and has called for greater tranparency on its nuclear programme. Senator Sam Brownback - a strong supporter of the Iranian protest movement, both in the United States and Iran - addressed the crowd. He noted that the protests would continue until there was fundamental social change in Iran. Brownback is the sponsor of a Senate resolution that calls for a vote on supporting democracy referendum efforts in Iran. Meanwhile, behind Senator Brownback, inside the US Capitol building, US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld was testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Rumsfeld was asked about current Iranian activities inside Iraq. General Tommy Franks told the committee that Iran's intelligence service appears to be trying to influence activities in Iraq.
