Webinar 3: The Nexus between Islamophobia of far right and Muslim Extremism Theoretical discussion: how can radicalism and Islamophobia be studied? Hate speech, Islamophobia and radicalism: Is there a link between Muslim radicalism and Islamophobia? This seminar presents the nexus of opposing attitudes in the same societies, i.e. extreme opinions and attitudes towards Muslims among various segments of the European public on the one hand and radicalisation of members within the Muslim community on the other. The presentations are based on research in Germany and Spain. In addition, the literature on the link between Islamophobia and radicalisation of members of the Muslim community will be discussed. Is it about reactive phenomena or is there more to it? What are their motivations, against a background of disillusionment in globalisation?
