BSF Beating Retreat ceremony at Attari- Wagah border, Punjab, India

The Attari–Wagah border is the site of one of the most intense and iconic ceremonial parades performed by the border guarding forces of India and Pakistan. On the Indian side, officers and jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) conduct an impressive, perfectly synchronised parade, while the Pakistan Rangers perform an equally spirited display on their side, at the time of flag lowering in the evening. Thousands of spectators gather every day to witness this hour-long, mesmerising Beating Retreat ceremony. Attari lies on the Indian side of the border, while Wagah is on the Pakistani side. Pakistan’s historic city of Lahore is just 20 kilometres from this border point, while Amritsar is about 28 kilometres away.
