The Ukrainian Air Force said its forces intercepted 40 Russian missiles across the country on July 26. Kyiv said a total of 36 missiles were launched from eight Tu-95MS strategic bombers. Ukraine’s Air Force said it shot down the missiles over the city of Dnipro and the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions. The destroyed targets included three Kalibr cruise missiles and 33 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles, Ukraine’s Air Force said. In addition, four Kh-47 Kinzhal missiles were fired from MiG-31K fighter jets toward the Khmelnytskyi region, Kyiv said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked soldiers of Ukraine’s air defence units for intercepting the massive missile attack. Western officials believe that Kremlin is has silenced dissent by detaining up to seven people following Wagner mutiny last month. Ukrainian forces have stepped up their counteroffensive after two months of gruelling, incremental gains, mounting a new push in the south. The Kremlin has said that just 17 African heads of state would be attending this week’s Russia-Africa summit. Russia has accused the West for putting pressure on African leaders to boycott the summit.
