Cutaway of reporters 6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Amr Moussa, Presidential candidate and former Arab League Secretary General: "By the end of June the president will be elected. He will be known, he will assume his office on the next day the morning of the first of July. This is the moment of transfer of power from the SCAF (Supreme Council of Armed Forces), the Supreme Council, to the new president. This is a new situation. The president will be the boss, the president will be the one who directs and who leads the country, but this does not mean that the other institutions won''t work as they are required to do including the military." 7. Mid Moussa news conference STORYLINE: Presidential candidate and former Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa held a press conference on Sunday as part of his presidential campaign. Moussa told reporters that he is in favour of a civil state, adding that "Egypt should not get into an experiment that has not been tried before" referring to the possibility of Islamic rule if one of the Islamist candidates were to win. Moussa Also added that he is most qualified to be the next president in Egypt as he has considerable political experience as a former foreign minister and former Secretary General of the Arab League. The elections, set to begin May 23, were intended to be a landmark in Egypt''s transition: the first free choosing of a president after decades of authoritarian rule. After the president is installed, the military is to hand over by the end of June the power it took after President Hosni Mubarak fell from power. Political chaos in the lead-up to the vote has fuelled fears that the military aims to push a candidate it favours into the presidency to ensure its continued influence and block dramatic reform. This week, the election commission disqualified 10 candidates, including the top three contenders. The move enraged Islamists because among those excluded were the Muslim Brotherhood''s nominee and a favourite of ultraconservatives known as Salafis.
