Why are my lights dimming in my trailer? | How to test and Replace RV converter charger

In this video, We are doing yet another unexpected project on our 1994 Airstream Land Yacht. We are changing our old RV converter with a new converter charger. We were having problems with our overhead RV lights dimming even though we were plugged into shore power. It turns out that our converter charger was bad and our batteries were being drained. If you don’t already know how a converter works in an RV or Travel Trailer, let me explain. Your overhead lights in your trailer run off DC power from your batteries, even if you are plugged into an AC power outlet (or shore power). When you are plugged into shore power, the RV converter charger takes the AC power from your RV plug and then converts the AC power into DC power and charges your batteries. If your converter is not working, and you continue to use your lights, then you will eventually drain your batteries down to nothing. That is what was happening to our motorhome. We didn’t know we even had a problem with the converter until the batteries died. Then we ran a couple test and had to troubleshoot our converter to find out that we had a bad converter charger. Luckily, it was as simple as disconnecting a couple wires and reinstalling the same wires on the converter to fix our problem. Simple converter swap out. *Please keep something in mind before attempting this project.
