Firefighters Run Out of Water Battling Wind-Driven Fire | Otay Mesa

01.20.2021 | 10:18 AM | SAN DIEGO - Firefighters responded to reports of a vegetation fire at Between the WB I-905 & the NB I-5. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a fire approximately 1/4 acre in size in the vegetation between the 2 freeways. They had knockdown when they ran out of water and the winds picked up the flames grew, with the fire increasing in size to a 1/2 acre. The exit to Toycayo Ave was shut down and heavy smoke was going over bother freeway traffic lanes. Water Tankers were called in and the firefighters again achieved knockdown of the fire.
