Going OverGround | The M4J Network | OpenTTD | #88
Every major city needs an extensive commuter rail network. Gardcity's however is more than little lacking. Despite all the main routes in and out of the city, there is very little beyond the Gardcity UnderGround and Hatfield Light Railway to link it all together. Some stations, such as Gardcity St Bartholomew, are even cut off completely from the rest of the city. Enter the Gardcity OverGround. Built partially using the former orbital railway around the city centre, the OverGround system connects all of the regions of Gardcity together as well as stretching out beyond the city limits to the surrounding towns and cities. The network also allows transfer from Gardcity Great Wintfield airport, running alongside the Great Western mainline right to Gardcity St Peter and beyond. The OverGround is electrified using both the 25kV overhead and 750V DC systems, with switchovers happening at Woodside and Slendstone stations and even a dual voltage section running along the eastern side of the city. The network is also constantly expanding, with the current 8 branches soon to be joined by a ninth and even more planned for the future.
