One of the best things about this custard is that it only requires four very simple ingredients. You can find all the ingredients that you need right below. 3 eggs, beaten ½ cup caster sugar 1 tsp. vanilla bean paste or essence 2 cups milk For the best result I highly recommend that you use ramekins to cook this custard in. If you’re unable to get your hands on some then coffee mugs or small bowls will suffice. Just don’t put the custard straight into the slow cooker as it will burn. I highly recommend that if you have any leftovers that you keep them. The custard is great cold but will not reheat well. They make for an excellent cold breakfast the next day. This custard has a slight hint of vanilla and an incredible sweetness to it. It’s smooth and goes perfect topped with some fruit and cinnamon. Indeed, a custard worth having for either dessert or breakfast. The foil is essential as it helps trap the heat and cook the custard. It also prevents water dripping into the custard and spoiling it. I use foil balls to help keep the ramekins off the bottom of the slow cooker, but a wire rack will be ideal. This height off the heat source will help prevent the custards from cooking incorrectly. For something slightly different you can use coconut milk rather than regular milk. This modification also makes it friendly if you’re someone who is lactose intolerant.
