In this story, Jiraiya has had to face his mortality and return to the beginning, reliving every scene of his life with the chance to answer the question “Would you do anything different?” During this time, he realized how many things he could have done differently, from pulling Orochimaru away from the darkness, to trying to save Dan Kato. If hindsight is 20-20, then Jiraiya’s foresight must also be, since the past and future are now analogous to him. Taking the children of Amegakure home with him, he works in hope that they won’t fall to darkness as they had in the past. But not everything may change.
