(Thank you for watching! Please leave ❤️❤️❤️ in the comments!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: The man was utterly speechless. In his previous life, after going bankrupt, he had ended up destitute on the streets; this life, however, was even worse—he had actually become a penniless scholar, and no sooner had he been reborn than reality slapped him hard across the face. When Yang Yixiao woke up, he found himself lying in a medical clinic. A young girl approached his bedside, carrying a bowl of dark herbal medicine; her tone was dripping with disdain—it was abundantly clear she looked down on him. Before long, Yang Yixiao pieced things together from the conversations he overheard. It turned out that the original owner of this body was also named Yang Yixiao. He was notorious throughout the village as a penniless wretch and a good-for-nothing—which explained why he was treated with such utter contempt. Standing beside the bed was a tall, burly middle-aged hunter. The young girl continued to berate them relentlessly, while the hunter kept offering up apologetic smiles. Just then, a voice called out from the inner room: "That’s enough, girl." From start to finish, Yang Yixiao did not utter a single word. It wasn't out of weakness, but rather because he had just transmigrated into this world; with the situation still unclear, he felt compelled to remain silent for the moment, relying on the words of others to gather information. By now, he could roughly confirm the situation: the original owner of this body had fallen gravely ill a few days prior, and the villagers had brought him to the clinic for treatment. However, they had been forced to run up a tab just to pay for the medicine, so naturally, they had no right to continue occupying a bed in the clinic to recuperate. The middle-aged hunter carefully helped Yang Yixiao sit up, then humbly and deferentially bade farewell to the clinic's proprietor. Even as they were leaving, the hunter kept a broad, apologetic smile plastered across his face: "Our entire Yang Family Village will forever be indebted to your kindness, Mr. Liu..." The proprietor merely gave a faint nod in response. As the hunter helped Yang Yixiao slowly make his way out of the city, the snippets of gossip they overheard along the way only served to reinforce Yang Yixiao’s growing conviction: the original owner of this body had truly been a bizarre character. On both sides of the street, passersby would occasionally point and whisper, their chatter filled with tales of his past humiliations. It made him feel deeply ashamed. Some remarked that there wasn't a soul in all of Jing County who didn't know the name Yang Yixiao. Born into abject poverty, he had nevertheless harbored an obstinate desire to rise above the common folk. He had tried his hand at scholarly pursuits, but his essays were utter gibberish, and every time he sat for an examination, the examiners would simply kick him out. Later, he had fantasized about becoming a great general, going so far as to craft a wooden bow for archery practice. Yet, after practicing for barely a year, he had rashly decided to enter the martial arts examination—only to shoot an arrow that landed squarely in the forehead of the poor official in charge of beating the drums. Later still, he even entertained the fantasy of teaching himself medicine. As it happened, he fell ill just a few days prior; he concocted a remedy for himself—only to nearly cure himself to death. In the end, he had to be carried into a medical clinic to have his life saved. On the surface, Yang Yixiao kept his head bowed, feigning an air of overwhelming shame; in reality, however, his ears remained pricked up, catching every single mocking remark from his surroundings with crystal clarity. As he listened, he silently sifted through the chatter, extracting any useful information. Just then, a group of scholars approached from the front. The moment they spotted Yang Yixiao, they immediately pointed at him and burst into raucous laughter; one of them even winked and made faces, deliberately making a spectacle of him for their own amusement.
