Booster Robotics presented a great demo in the SJMC lobby yesterday. The company is developing robots that can benefit us in our daily lives. The robots will also serve as a platform for the integration of AI models. The Booster team visited at the invitation of associate professor Fan Yang, who joined the CIC this fall. Yang is spearheading the development of a new Emergent Technologies Lab for the college. The lab consists of three hubs. One focuses on virtual reality and immersive experiences, another on AI, and the final hub studies the impact of robotics on communications. “In the lab, we’re going to explore the exciting directions of how we interact with embodied AI, which is the robots,” says Yang. “So, we are really interested in to know, as they enter every aspect of our lives, how are we going to interact with them, and how does that impact our daily interaction with each other.”
