If you're looking for the best coffee on Vashon Island, look no further! We've rounded up the top five coffee shops - according to me. I drink a lot of coffee and good coffee matters. A lot. So when you come to visit Vashon Island, be sure to leave time to support the local businesses. Whether you're in the mood for a quick caffeine fix on your way to Point Robinson Lighthouse on Maury island, or a leisurely afternoon exploring local artists, grab a cup of joe from one of these spots and get a taste of island life. If you're visiting Vashon Island from Tacoma you'll be starting on the south end, driving north from the Tahlequah ferry terminal on Vashon Highway, the first stop is the Burton Coffee Stand. 1. Burton Coffee Stand This is the perfect place to start your day exploring Vashon Island. The coffee stand is located in Burton, just a few minutes north of the ferry terminal. They offer a selection of hot and iced coffee drinks, as well as pastries and sandwiches. The outdoor seating is a great place to sit and shoot the shit with the Burton locals, one of the best schmoozing spots in the while Puget sound area. Heading north on Vashon Highway, past the turn off to Maury Island (and the Point Robinson Lighthouse), you will arrive at one the finest, and oldest, coffee roasters in the Puget Sound, the home of Seattle's best Coffee, known simply as the Roastarie by the locals. 2. Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie The Roastarie is a must stop when visiting Vashon Island. The coffee is some of the best you will ever have, hands down. The Roastarie is located south of Vashon town, on Vashon Highway, just a stone's throw from the Vashon Island schools. They offer a wide variety of coffees, as well as tea and pastries. The Roastarie has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and people watching. The staff is always friendly and happy to chat about their coffee and the island. In the back is a grocery/pharmacy called Minglement. Always filled with local Vashon produce, and a wide selection of herbal and homeopathic remedies, it serves as a great place for Vashon locals and visitors to pick up some snacks or medicines. With picnic tables out back, a charming bookstore inside, and a Vashon ice cream shop open all summer, no day trip to Vashon Maury Island is complete without a stop here. Continuing north on Vashon Highway you come to downtown Vashon, home to the next two coffee shops. 3. Cafe Vino Olio The new kid on the block - using Seattle-sourced Cafe Vitta coffee and a wide selection of great wines - this is a wonderful choice. If you're looking for a place to relax, surrounded by the work of local artists, Cafe Vino Olio is the perfect spot for you. They have a decent selection of food, including as good of a bagel as you are likely to find, and a wide array of drink options made by baristas who know what they're doing, as well as always willing to help out. 4. Cafe Luna This quaint little cafe is a great spot for people-watching, thanks to its large front windows. It's also a cozy place to curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee or tea. The menu features both sweet and savory items, including breakfast dishes, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. And of course, they have a wide selection of hot and cold beverages. 5. AJs Coffee Stand This is a great place to drive up and get your coffee fix without leaving your car.
