A shocking scene unfolded inside the Supreme Court when 71-year-old advocate Rakesh Kishore threw a shoe at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai during a hearing. Security immediately overpowered him, and Delhi Police detained him for questioning. Surprisingly, within just three hours, police released the lawyer after the Supreme Court’s Registrar General refused to press charges, instructing that his belongings be returned. Reports suggest that CJI Gavai told officials to “just ignore” the incident. The Bar Council of India (BCI), however, suspended the advocate’s license and issued a show-cause notice demanding an explanation within 15 days.
