The incident prompted a demonstration of the "Call, Tell, Throw" safety messaging advocated by the national safety campaign, Respect The Water, which involves members of the National Water Safety Forum, including HM Coastguard. 1. **Call - 999 and ask for the Coastguard 📱**: The first step in this life-saving process was the public promptly calling emergency services. They dialed 999 and requested immediate assistance from the Coastguard. 2. **Tell - them to float on their back 💬**: Upon making the call, the public was well-aware of the "Call, Tell, Throw" messaging. They provided essential guidance to the young people in danger, advising them to float on their back. This position helps keep the individuals afloat and conserves energy while awaiting rescue. 3. **Throw - them something that floats 🛟**: Understanding the significance of the "Throw" element, the public acted quickly to find something that floats and threw it towards the endangered individuals.
