Should Jonathan Ericsson Remain in the AHL?

In the aftershock of the Detroit Red Wings choosing to send long time defenseman, Jonathan Ericsson, down to the AHL - we began asking ourselves a few questions. What does this say of Steve Yzerman's rebuild model? Are the Wings done with Ericsson all together? Why did they move him in the first place? Is no one safe? A low producer in recent seasons and needing to make room for up and coming talent, Ericsson was the one sacrificed for the good of the team. We decided to take a stab at the reasoning and how this bizarre roster move could help the Grand Rapids Griffins organization. What do you think? Was it a smart move?
