Netherlands Winter 2023 #4 - Fortified town of Gorinchem on the Waal- mega ● Floods + inundations ●

After escaping the storm and rain on the coast, we headed inland along the Waal River. Our destination was the old fortress town of Gorinchem, which, with its beautiful old town and prime location, magically attracted us. Our motorhome was centrally located on the pitch in the marina, where campers are welcome. From here, you can set off on many excursions on foot, by bike, or by water taxi, and visit other fortress towns in the immediate vicinity. Gorinchem embodies the typical Dutch flair with many lovely little shops and quaint and original restaurants, some located along picturesque canals. We were pleasantly surprised and extended our stay to simply stroll around and soak up the coziness the town exudes.
