Texas Longhorns Football Modcast Part 1: Bo Davis video, culture issues and big recruiting weekend The Modcast dives head first into one of the craziest weeks in the history of Texas Longhorns Football. Geoff Ketchum, publisher of Orangebloods.com goes over the timeline. Last Tuesday night the Jeff Banks MonkeyGate story broke with Jeff Banks' girlfriend and her monkey allegedly bit a trick-or-treater at their house on Halloween. Shortly thereafter, video surfaced of Texas Longhorns special teams coordinator Jeff Banks out celebrating after a Texas loss at a bar. Later in the week, Sark meets with the team and goes over players' tardiness, then reportedly gets into a verbal altercation with Joshua Moore. Steve Sarkisian refuted the story, and questioned the reporting of Anwar Richardson. Then a few days after that Texas loses by three touchdowns at Iowa State. Then a few days after the Texas Longhorns loss to Iowa State, Joshua Moore, last year's leading receiver for the Horns, enters the transfer portal. Finally, a few days later video is made public of DL Coach Bo Davis going off on the Texas Longhorns football team. Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.com: "All of the individual stories are problems, but is there a bigger problem than the foundation and culture at Texas?" Suchomel thinks it's a problem that could be wrong with Texas high school football as they are catered to and pampered with tremendous facilities from a young age. Anwar Richardson, Texas Longhorns football beat reporter for Orangebloods.com says he's frustrated because they're talking about everything other than Texas Longhorns winning on a football field. "We talk about everything, but the wins." Anwar says the Bo Davis video says a lot about the disconnect between the Texas football players and Steve Sarkisian's coaching staff. Alex Dunlap of Orangebloods.com says there are a lot of cultural factors involved when it comes to Texas Longhorns football. It's not about Texas high school kids, because there are a lot of Texas kids having success including Garrett Wilson at Ohio State and many Texas high school football recruits at Texas A&M and Alabama Crimson Tide football. Alex also points out that Joshua Moore has been playing around 75% of Teas Longhorns offensive snaps in 2021, so with the loss of Moore to the transfer portal there is a major void in terms of production. Ketch, Anwar, Alex and Suchomel also discuss how the 2021 season for the Texas Longhorns can still be salvaged. Ketch mentions that the team can still go 7-5, but can also still manage a very good 2022 football recruiting class. Jason Suchomel mentions they also need to find out the toxic players to flush out of the locker room, including the individual who released the Bo Davis video. Jason Suchomel, who heads up recruiting at Orangebloods.com says one of the potential positives out of the 2021 Texas Longhorns season is Sark and the Texas Longhorns coaching staff can sell immediately playing time for the Longhorns in 2022. However as Anwar mentions that can go both ways for the high level players and blue chip recruits that believe they can go to other schools and play right away too.
