Old ladies highly recommend castor oil to initiate labour pain at the end of 9 month. Actually castor oil is used for the relief of constipation. Smooth muscles are present in large intestine and due to castor oil constipation is relieve and the same uterus can start labour pain due to castor oil. In Normal mechanism of labour pain،in 10 minutes there are 3 to 4 times labour pains and the duration of pain is around 30__45 seconds. And between this time period baby take Oxygen and relax and breath normally. When the patient has taken castor oil the labour pains are very severe and frequent and between labour pain there is no gap and rest and due to why the baby is in stress. These continuous labour pains are good to initiate labour pain and opening of the cervix is going good but the babies are in stress that's why baby can pass micronium in the tummy of the the mother. Ideally baby should pass meconium after delivery but in these cases due to frequent severe labour pains without any gap the baby when into stress and pass meconium in the tummy. Liquor around the baby is totally infected due to this micronium and baby can inhale the mecronium. This mecronium can cause pneumonia and even baby can expire into the tummy during these labour pain due to severe infection. When these patients report to the hospital, usually baby distress is very common and CTG is also not good and the baby is in trouble. If the patient reports to the hospital and the liqour is drained commonly due to meconium this liqiur is green and emergency Cesarean section is highly recommended to save the child. BUT in that case where liqour is not drained at the time of section the liquor is green and the baby is v sick. When these babies are delivered they usually admitted in NICU to treat pneumonia or micronium aspiration syndrome. So it's better to wait till expected date of delivery and consult your gynecologist.
