Mic and Ben Engagement

In August of 2014, I decided Michaela, my girlfriend, was the one I wanted to live the rest of my life with. After 9 months of planning, writing, phone calls, and prepping, Mic and seven of her friends (including myself) set out on a weekend treasure hunt adventure of a lifetime! Michaela was given a letter two weeks before we left by friends from her church. They told her the treasure hunt was hosted by the church to help promote community among the college students in the church. The best part was, she never caught on until the very end of the trip. The following is a list of the clues and their destinations throughout the trip: #1- “Away from Hunters, guns and fear; a land of refuge for the elk and deer” As you enter on 34, and continue on your way, don’t forget to pack your bags for one night you will stay. This first leg is less intense than what you’ll soon embark. But In-tents it will sure to be in the Rocky Mountain Park. Rocky Mountain National Park: Estes, CO #2- Your next clue is found beneath a branch. In order to first find your tree, go head down to the RANCH. As you HALL down to this place to search within your scope, Don’t stray to far from off the path, just follow antelope. Hall Ranch: Lyons, CO #3- Today’s the day for green and gold on every garb and gown, to show your die-hard loyalty in this specific town. All atop of Ralphie you must snap a pic to share, with the barista at Starbucks just south east of Golden Square (Great Clips) Starbucks off of Ford: Golden, CO #4- Whether Box Turtles, mines, Mammoths, or Pete ZaPigh is true, this founding, original sit-down is where you’ll find your next clue. Beau Joe’s: Idaho Springs, CO #5- Crystal clear waters of turquoise and blue. You’ll find your next clue at this marvelous view. They won’t let you swim, but it’s still cool to look. So come HANG by this pool and search by the brook (under a bridge). Glenwood Canyon, CO #6- You traveled far and had some fun, but this adventure’s not yet done. You’ve come this far and worked all day it’s time to find a place to stay. But first your probably hungry right? For golly sakes it’s almost night! This evening meal is over due. Why not… head to Aspen for some BBQ? Hickory House: Aspen, CO #7- It’s that time to hit the hay but you must find a place to stay. The mountain pass is still at close, let’s back track some and avoid the snow. Return to the glen return to the wood so you can go checkout, a place to rest from dusk til dawn, a place you can HIDEOUT, The Hideout Campgrounds: Glenwood Springs, CO #8- Your next clue is to be found sitting under a rock. Close by a store called the “Pearl” is where you’ll have to walk. Get good sleep for soon you are to see a real GOOD VIEW. As you find which town to search, some Spanish might help you. Under a Rock by a store called “Pearl”: Buena Vista, CO. #9- Red rock formations that protrude from the ground, disappoint many for miles around. They’re treated as flowers for Beings of the sky. The clue that you hunt is on a rock up high. On a Rock in Garden of the Gods: Colorado Springs, CO. (Yeah I know it's a bad one. I couldn't think of anything good to say) #10- Return to the Fort! Return to the Mill! You’ll find it under a windowsill. UCA: Fort Collins, CO #11- You might have thought this was the end of this silly treasure game, but its not over til you go back from whence you came. We tried to find a hidden spot to hide the final clue. It should be easy if you know your Lat and Longitude (40.575796, -105.082963). Solve the puzzle using the pictures to find your coordinates) Hidden Spot by Engineering Building: Fort Collins, CO Final Clue: “Hey, can I tell you about what God’s been doing in my heart this summer?”
