LEGO Punk Pirate Ship set 43114 review

LEGO Punk Pirate Ship set 43114 review

This is another of the clearance video sets I got back in January. Initially I really just it them because it was over 600 parts for less than $40 and it looked like some good parts in good colors. The parts are pretty good. I figured there would be a fair amount of reddish brown parts, which there are. But there is also a good amount of turquoise parts. There’s a surprisingly amount of black parts too and even medium grey. Minifigure accessories were also more numerous than anticipated. Most of the parts are pretty good plates and bricks but it does also include some modified ones. The minifigure are good. The printing on them is excellent. There are crazy vidiyo figures but that’s to be expected. Since I got this set on clearance, the price to part ratio is very good. But what I found most pleasantly surprising was that I actually like the build. I had low expectations, but they were blown away. This was a fun, interesting build, with tradition methods, SNOT, hinges & moving stuff, good sculpting, etc. Of course it’s not a real pirate ship, but I think the finished model also looks good and is interesting. I don’t think it would take much modifying to make it into a party boat or something for a LEGO city. Ultimately, I had fun building this, it was good value, and it’s made up of good parts. With all that said, I am giving it an A.
